Is anybody else shocked that this week was the first day of fall? Depending on where you live, you may be starting to see the leaves turn colors and the smell of the air changing.  However, if you are like me, and reside in a warm climate place like Miami or LA, the closest feeling of “autumn” you are experiencing is the pumpkin flavor in your iced latte. For this reason, I thought I’d share some of my summer to fall transition tips that you can use with your summer wardrobe.

I believe in styling pieces to fit every season, especially when the weather permits. September is one of those awkward months where the climate is still warm, but you start seeing fall style everywhere- from the racks at the stores to the fashion magazines/blogs. This dress from the brand Rhode was one of my favorite summer pieces, and I have not wanted to stop wearing it even though summer is technically behind us. So I gave myself the “September Challenge” (I made that up- don’t think it’s a real thing) to try to style it in a way that transitions to fall. Here is how I would transition a summer dress to feel more like autumn:

1

Swap Out Sandals for Boots

Styling booties with a dress is one of my favorite things to do, especially here in LA. It elevates the fall aspect and gives a dress that casual, effortlessly cool look.

Top It Off With A Hat

Being that the weather is still HOT in LA, I wore a lighter straw/rattan hat because I feel I can still get a way with it, but if you want a more “autumn” feel, you can opt for a wool or warmer hat.

Stick to Fall Colors

Picking a dress or piece that is a fall color or warmer tone, helps you achieve more of an autumn feel. PS: Speaking of dresses, I am obsessed with this style and love that it comes in PLENTY of colors and patterns. Mine went on sale, but there are beautiful fall options they just came out with, I linked them below.

Don’t want to say goodbye to summer just yet? You don’t have to! Continue  accessorizing  with your white pieces! I’m not ready to put away my summer accessories, so I slung my white cross body around my shoulders and called it a day! Although this is a style guide, you should always wear what makes you feel beautiful and confident! That’s the most important aspect of fashion at the end of the day.
