Happy Earth day lovelies! Fun fact: I love succulents. I think that they are the key to making your living space more lively and decorative. There is just something about living plants and greenery that livens a space. So I thought it would be fun to show you all how I made my terrarium at home. It’s very easy and you can definitely do it yourself if I did! So let’s get started!

How To: Make a Terrarium…

– Materials you will need:

   > Succulents and Cacti of your choice

   > Soil

   > Terrarium or Bowl ( West Elm has my favorite selection! )

   > Sand

   > Decorative rocks and trinkets

   > Gloves

– Step 1: After cleaning your terrarium, Layer a bed of small pebbles or rocks for a decorative foundation.

-Step 2: Put on your gloves, and cover the rocks with a layer of soil. (You don’t want ruin that manicure!)

– Step 3: Take your plants out of the pots and place them on top of the soil. Then add more soil and spritz some water to blend the plants in to your foundation.( Don’t forget to keep in mind the decorative trinkets and rocks that you want to put around them. Once you plant them, there is no turning back!)

– Step 4: After you’ve planted you cactus and succulent, place a layer of sand and/or decorative rocks. This step is entirely up to your preference. You can fill the next layer with rocks or pebbles, or for a cleaner look, cover the soil with sand.

– Step 5: This is my favorite part! Now you can decorate and get creative with the design of your  terrarium! I decided to spray paint some rocks and a toy dinosaur gold ! You can have a lot of fun with the rest of this DIY project. I also mixed in other glittery white rocks that I found at West Elm, and layered them on top of each other for more depth.

And Voila! You have you very own terrarium! Place this on your desk, coffee table, dresser, or really anywhere that needs a little lift of color and life.

I also made another terrarium in a glass bowl that I had lying around, and added a little lavender to it! See the pics below.
