Leather pants can be pretty tricky to style, but are so chic when pulled off the right way, especially for the fall and winter season. Below I am sharing a few of my tips and tricks to style leather pants in different ways!
fit
The reason I chose these Joie leather pants was the unique style and shape they had compared to how most leather pants fit- skintight! Although I was originally looking for a tighter pair to wear under oversized sweaters, I found these in the designer section of TJ Maxx for almost 70% off and I loved the particular fit.
Because the fit of the pants I chose were high-waisted, cinched above the waist, then ballooned out to straight leg, I paired them with a form fitting, high-neck to, then tucked it in. I added heeled shoes for height and length (essential for my body type when I wear straight leg pants, since I am not the tallest person). If I were to style skintight leather pants, I would definitely wear more of an oversized sweater top and a coat with boots.
Fabric
Because leather is an edgy fabric, I always love pairing light, opposite fabrics like cotton to soften and balance out the look. Mixing different textures with leather is my key to styling the fabric. Pairing a wool coat or a plaid blazer with leather pants gives the look a more polished take. Looking for a more casual feel? Pair the pants with a cotton plain or graphic tee and sneakers for an effortless and laid-back vibe. If you want to keep the edge of the leather pants but still add a little glam, top the look off with a headband or hat!
Style
Casual & edgy, or polished & glam- there are so many ways to style leather! Think of how trusty your leather jacket is- the same can be said about leather pants. They add a fun edge to even a minimal look!
Below I’ve linked a bunch of leather and faux leather pant styles in all different price ranges, along with similar styles to everything I am wearing. Enjoy!
