We’re officially at the end of the summer season, with fall peeping right around the corner. Although linen is the (un)official fabric of the summer, I’ve been wearing it all year long! With proof, I have decided to share a round up of some of my favorite ways to style linen, along with where I’ve been sporting it all year long- especially when living in sunny (AND HOT) Miami, FL.
At the beginning of this year, I was fortunate enough to be able to travel to gorgeous Australia for the first time. Sydney was a dream! And it happened to be the Australian summer in January. You know what that means: LINEN GALORE! This post was actually inspired by a visit to the local Sydney Farmers market on a hot summer Sunday. While perusing around the market with iced coffee in hand, I happened to stumble upon an adorable linen shop. It was an array of rainbow-colored linen goodness and I wanted it all! Tops, dresses, scarves, pants – the only things missing were linen napkins and a tablecloth to add to my home collection. It was here that I decided that 2024 would be my “Linen Era” – (a la Taylor Swift).

A matching set
Speaking of Sydney, this was my “OOTD” for a VERY hot day flaneuring around the marina and walking the beautiful parks there. I paired a classic pair of white linen pants with a matching white vest, worn as a top. Top it off with a hat and sneakers for a comfy, yet chic Australian summer look.
2
a Classic Button-down
The button-down is a classic and timeless piece that you can style multiple ways. Tuck it into jeans and roll up the sleeve for a casual look, use it at a summer layer over a tank and shorts, or steam/iron it to pair with a skirt or silk pants for a sunset dinner. The possibilities are endless for this closet veteran!

A dress
You can never go wrong with a linen dress! Patterned, solid, mini, maxi- they are always a great spring/summer option. The only worry I find with linen dresses is that they are less forgiving when they are very wrinkled. Cue one of my new favorite travel buddies: The Nori Press. Works like a hair straigtening iron, but for your clothes. AND it has a specific setting for linen! Nori sent me this iron to try and I will say that I really like to travel with it. I find it is a little large for short trips or carry-ons, but I do pack it when I am able to check in a bag.

mix and match Patterns
And speaking of matching sets, a set with pattern adds a bit of panache to the linen vibe. What I love about patterns is that you can create a completely different look when you style them separately, especially if you are short on space in your suitcase for a long trip (Hello, carryon for a European adventure!). You can use the pants with a solid top and vice versa!
