The Basics: One Striped Boyfriend Shirt, Two Ways

When building your wardrobe, you want to make sure that you have the basic foundation or classic pieces, such as a white T-shirt, blue jeans, a little black dress (the list can go on and on). Another time and another post we can start talking about the building blocks or classic pieces that every woman should have in their wardrobe no matter what their style. But, today we will be talking about one of my favorite classic pieces: the striped “boyfriend” button-down shirt.

This shirt is so timeless and classic. From simple All-American beauties like Jennifer Aniston and Gweneth Paltrow, to fashion icons of today like Sarah Jessica Parker and Jenna Lyons, to the timeless and elegance of Audrey Hepburn and Jackie’O, the boyfriend button down has never gone out of style and never will.

Dress it up with a skirt, statement necklace, and some wedges, like I did here…

Or, you can make it more casual by pairing it with shorts and knotting the tail ends of the shirt. Slap on some espadrilles or Sperry boat shoes, (maybe a fedora) and you’ve got yourself a perfect summer outfit for some fun in the sun!
