Dark Side of Spring

Referring back to my last blog post- a flowy, cute and light floral dress you can wear to brunch or on Easter morning- I wanted to style a completely different kind of Spring dress and show that the season doesn’t always have to mean girly and pastel shades. I wanted to display the “Dark Side” of Spring.

Although there is a time for the colorful and fun dresses that this season brings, sometimes you have an event like a black tie wedding or gala that you have to dress up for- and a cotton dress with a bow is just not going to cut it. I actually saw this dress on the hanger and kept walking thinking nothing of it. But I circled back around the rack and something told me to try it on. I don’t know if it was the embellished florals that caught my attention, or that I was intrigued by the fact that it was a piece I knew I’d never wear. My curiosity won and I ended up trying it on, and boy am I glad I did!

Definitely one of those pieces that transform when you try it on. (I hear my mom’s voice in the back of my mind “You just have to try it on!”) I knew this dress wouldn’t be complete without some dramatic eyes and a tousled up-do so the details can be appreciated. So I called up one of my favorite makeup artists (and also my BFF) Carolyna Padron to transform my beauty look for the shoot! Isn’t she so talented?

Not the most functional of styles, I know. But sometimes I have the urge to style and create an editorial-style shoot! Hope you all enjoyed my “Dark Side of Spring.”

Although this dress is unavailable, if you are looking for a lavish and embellished dress for your next special event, shop some at this link (Revolve Clothing) or this link (Topshop).
